First things first, I did a terrible job of following the directions; I did not use a double boiler, I used a standard 14lb. candle wax melter. Wax was heated to about 200 degrees, fragrance added at 180 degrees with a 2 minute stir, and I poured at about 138 degrees. My candles were basically visually perfect. I had close to ZERO cratering on 11 of my 12 candles. The single one that did? It wasn't even enough for me to try to reheat and correct, it was minuscule. Adhesion to glass vessel was flawless, considerably better than my go-to wax, if I'm being honest here. I'm scratching my head how this wax has so many bad reviews. One thing that may be contributing to the success that I had (and keep having) could be room temperature? I live in Buffalo (please keep your snow and football comments to yourself) and the room that I pour my candles in is typically about 66 or 67 degrees. I'm not sure if that cooler temp aids in the whole process? Lastly, I was super skeptical about the short curing window, but I lit a candle after only 4 days of curing (expecting to smell nothing) and it was incredible. The wicks that worked beautifully at 3-7 days are now too small and I have had to wick up 2 sizes for most fragrances. I have tested CD, LX, Utlra Core and Helix wicks. My favorite wick in this wax is Helix and then LX.  This wax gets sinkholes and the reset is bumpy, but these issues are easily fixed. Please don't fall for the quick cure time- this is soy wax after all and it, like all other pure soy waxes, needs to recrystallize and harden.  BTW, I heat all waxes, even pure soy, to 200° and add fragrance immediately. (Wax molecules don't begin to open to accept fragrance until 185°) and I have had zero issues doing this. (I've been a chandler for 15 years). The CT is outstanding and immediate. The HT is also outstanding! I rate both a 5\u002F5. Would I recommend this wax? The lower price point, higher melt point, promises of less appearance issues, and being made in the USA attracted me.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\u003Cp>My first tester was made in an 8oz mason jar, with a CD 14 wick, and Grapefruit and Mint FO at 8% (so glad this FO is a clean scent now!). My room temp was 65 and I heated the wax slowly to 198 (no double boiler). I added the FO at 185 and poured slowly at 145. I rinse my jars with very hot water right before wicking and pouring to heat slightly. After pouring, I cooled the candle on a wire rack, tapping to remove air bubbles. I absolutely LOVED working with this wax - the pellets made scooping a breeze! No sticky wax messes with SimplySoy!! \u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\u003Cp>After cooling, the candle had a creamy appearance and texture, no sink holes. (Maybe everyone's problem with sink holes comes from pouring temp and maybe cooling method?) There were a couple of very, very slight \"bumps\" on the surface but nothing noticeable if you're not the candlemaker and inspecting super close and honestly better than 464. Overall great appearance! We have not changed our fragrance load, and contrary to CS testing notes, did not need to wick up! The wax is more powdery than 464 and melts SO much faster! The cold and hot throw is absolutely amazing. It seems to hold up better to heat, and I'm excited to see how it performs at outdoor craft shows here in coastal Georgia. My one minor complaint is it does seem to burn through the candle slightly faster than 464 - i.e. aggressive burn test got 43 hours out of 464, but approx. 36 out of SimplySoy. We have to do further testing since it may have been that it was only 3 days post-pour and we were impatient to try ;) I'm having some difficulty getting smooth tops but assume I just need to find my right pouring temperature and keep consistent.
