There was no rancid smell at all. It blended well using a powerful handheld emulsifier type of blender. I chopped up 2 lbs into small blocks, then emulsified it until it was smooth and creamy. I switched to a handheld beater once the base was creamy, I added 6% of fragrance and 1% DPG. I whipped that then added 1% of jojoba oil, .5% of liquid shea olein, 1% of Argan oil. The oils mixed in well and it smelled divine! I gave samples to customers and everyone loved it. I'm now introducing a new line of the bath butter to my shop Initially, the batter was very fluid and reached a light trace slowly. A few more pulses of the stick blender and we had mashed potato textured soap. We scooped the chunks of soap out of the pot and pressed it firmly into the mold as best we could. Within 15 minutes, the soap was almost in a full gel and the surface had cracked open. After 24 hours we cut the soap into bars and found they were smooth except in the corners where we did not press down firmly enough. We observed that the soap reached a full gel and the outer rim of the soap discolored to a bright yellow while the middle remained unchanged. The scent was pleasantly strong. After 30 days the soap discolored to a dark tan color and the scent remained strong.
